one of primary reasons wanted upgrade ip8 plus year (aside being on yearly upgrade plan) use 4k 60fps video shooting mode. of course, many of you, excitedly tried find 4k/60 setting in camera settings , couldn't find it... discover need use "high efficiency" setting first. digress.
once got setting right, shot random footage , noticed difference right away! buttery smooth video (like when shooting @ 1080p/60) @ full 4k resolution. previously, tradeoff between resolution , frame rate. past year, i've been shooting exclusively in 4k because have 5k imac , video beautiful. however, notice not-so-smooth video, when either shooting subjects in motion , when panning.
here few take-aways discovered:
1) make sure turn "high efficiency" mode on in settings, otherwise won't see 4k/60 or 1080p/240 modes.
2) file sizes 4k/60 going huge, why opted 256gb storage option.
3) there doesn't seem recording time limit shooting 4k/60fps, pretty remarkable because android phones have 4k/30fps time limit (10 minutes or usually). have not tried shooting infinitely, reviewers noted shooting on 10 minutes without stopping. remarkable feat given amount of heat dissipation necessary shooting in 4k/60. standalone cameras can't it. highly acclaimed sony rx100 series, example, has approximate time limit of around 5 minutes in 4k mode (and it's 30fps). larger cameras can shoot longer, smartphone compact iphone , double frame rate most, big deal.
4) ois continues work when shooting 4k/60fps
5) since don't have high sierra yet, when tried airdrop 4k/60fps video 5k imac, had convert video first. took quite bit of time, assume won't necessary once osx update available?
have yet shoot worthy of showing off, pleased far. of course, need kind of 4k viewing environment take advantage of it. @ least youtube allows upload in 4k/60 now, that's 1 way share them.
edit: forgot add, fixed bad video exposure problem when going dark light (where wasn't smooth transition). annoying on ip7.
nice.
why did remember x
had 60fps?
