Messages on Mac showing phone number rather than name


hi all

messages on mac (high sierra) showing phone numbers of contacts rather name per contacts app. messages show name of contact if change phone number in contacts 07xxx +447xxx, don't want have go through of contacts , alter phone numbers international format, , used work on old 2014 mbp, on same os version.

can , tell me how names show?
