Apple TV surround sound setup


i've been using apple tv 3 in main living room old 5.1 yamaha receiver, connected via optical cable , has been working great. considering getting new apple tv (or 4) has hdmi. saw decent deals @ bestbuy receivers , don't need crazy, wondering if has recommendation based on setting. use sound bar ? or full blown surround system? while used love blasting music in surround, little kids it's not happening idea of full true surround system not necessary important don't want compromise , connect directly tv either. thoughts?
 

in anticipation of 4k apple tv purchased new avr has 4k pass through (it’s in basement have 70” 4k tv , xbox 1 s can 4k). price wasn’t bad, , old receiver needed replaced.

if enjoy surround sound out inexpensive hdmi based receiver. if don’t need 4k you’ll find quite inexpensive. sound bars work great (i don’t have one) have heard people things.

, yeah.. hear on kids.. lol.

MBP extremely slow, HDD cable replaced, what next?

How much is my cMP worth?
