MB 2017 for iOS development

i use mba mid 2011, , think works ok. build times ok current project. 1:30 minutes complete rebuild, , 15 seconds rebuild of 1 changed file. simulator runs bit slow, think it's ok. project based on spritekit physics engine, it's quite calculation intensive.

has tried out m3 version of 2017 rmb similar use case. mba battery running out of cycles, , power cable mess.

guess top speed of rmb higher mba, worry don't know how rmb handles load peaks. how handle 1.30 (90 seconds) build? build @ high speed couple of seconds, , revert 1.2 ghz mode? running in simulator?

rmb @ least on par mba, or can slower?

know mbp might safer choice, sleek fan less design of rmb. lack of ports think i've read possibility debug devices through wireless. maybe that's not big concern?

well if compare geekbench scores (single - multi)
macbook air: 2000 - 3500
macbook: 3800 - 8300

that's quite gain in raw cpu power.

suppose have 4gb ram in macbook air that's gain going 8gb ram.

there ssd lot faster on macbook on macbook air.

edit: think xcode uses metal (not sure) if too. 2011 macbook air's don't support metal.
