Clean install or migration assistant to remove kernels

using el capitan on mid-2009 macbook pro. i've been troubled kernel panics , in thread advised hit restart button eliminate these kexts forever, think there's chance old blackberry kernels etc 2011 have been transferred on when switched older macbook 3 years ago. i have struggled remove these kernels , have spent many days trying - want them gone , side of things cleaned up. back think used superduper, possibly in conjunction migration assistant , had no problems, though realise current computer has inherited of these troublesome files. have undertaken full backup via time machine (which have never used previously). backup on internal hd in optical bay. want install free system clutter, particularly bad kernels, make process straightforward , effective possible. have few questions:

- should use migration assistant or avoid it?
- there way use won't carry on kexts , other such clutter?
- user of logic pro x, have lot of plugins downloaded. if have manually transfer over, worried messing , plugins not being detected. same photos etc. - best method here?
find library folders confusing, unsure manually transferring on individual contents, folder folder. need this? there's worry won't know when it's safe delete backup.

- there simple way after clean install? i'm worried getting wrong or getting lost along way.

thanks!

first, make sure kernel panics aren't related hardware issue (like ram crapping out). personally, i'd clean install - that's me (and has long usage of other inferior os called windows)
