Date / Time issues on AD-joined domain Macbook Pro's

probably going lengthy post - sorry --

i've been working configure ten new macbook pro's our ad domain. through many days of pain, i've determined there's sort of date/time problem version 10.12.4 of sierra. can consistently reproduce problem. if leave os @ 10.12.3 (shipped version), problem doesn't occur.

other details:
location services turned off
time zone set. option "set date , time automatically" set, using default apple time servers.
here's pattern:

  • new out of box. create admin account, apply updates. far good.
  • join computer our (ad 2003) domain (please, no comments on ad 2003; we're working on it) :)
  • reboot computer. have date of 12/31/2037, , time varies depending on time of day.
  • if go in date/time control panel, , unlock padlock, date / time corrects itself.

of familiar ad know, correct date/time critical. don't want turn off option automatically set date/time dst reasons. users getting these computers aren't day-to-day mac users.

else encounter this, , find solution (aside not using 10.12.4)?

in advance tips.

lots of people having problem 10.12.4. it's reportedly fixed in 10.12.5 betas may want wait since 10.12.5 seems pretty late in beta process. details here: https://www.jamf.com/jamf-nation/discussions/23582/macos-sierra-update-10-12-4-issue-and-fix
