Old external drive with new USB-c cable to new MBP?


i'm buying 2016 mbp.
have old 3.5" , 2.5" external drives normal usb cables.
can buy new cable (mini-usb usb-c) , connect mbp?
lose performance solution? compared buying new drive comes usb-c cable.

performance depends on drive , spec is. won't lose current performance if that's question though

MBP extremely slow, HDD cable replaced, what next?

How much is my cMP worth?
