hi,
have 15" 2012 macbook pro (intel hd 4000 / gt 650m graphics). today, opened , presented split-second-in-duration white screen full of artifacts. went away , presented me normal desktop.
i'm wondering, however, if there's potentially impending graphics or logic board issue. apple replace laptop under current replacement program, or not significant-enough issue? apple tends go solely asd programs, , such programs don't seem discover actual issues.
-thanks
well, posting here further info extension program video issues macbook pros purchased between feb 2011 , dec 2013. apple supposedly provides 4 years of coverage original date of sale. second owner of mid-2012 (purchased first owner march 2014) developed small screen glitches disappear. laptop @ apple store new retina screen covered under extended repair program.
if isn't enough, battery tested needing replacement when store ran diagnostics when dropped off screen repair. had looked that, , has 800 or recharges , warranty covers 1000.
repair center called , said wanted replace logic board , battery/top case $539. others same retina screen issue on facebook group have said battery free replacement, quoted $299, remainder being top case , logic board. told shop pick without repairs, wanted research further.
not sure apple still covers mid-2012 video issues/logic board. site found said 2011 no longer covered, , have feeling model beyond coverage @ point. going store pick afternoon , not sure how handle.
