Encrypting a Time Machine drive has taken 2-days and it still needs way more time


i setup new 4tb drive time machine , after first backup right clicked on drive , chose encrypt it. 2 days ago , progress bar encryption process still not quarter of way...does sound right? plugged 2015 macbook pro , need use though limited working while connected external drive. there way quit encryption process? not see option. damage external drive since in process of being encrypted?

if don't mind losing backup, better off erasing 4tb drive , encrypting @ time or while it's empty, backing it. right it's having encrypt every single file on drive , being slow, spinning hdd take days complete.

MBP extremely slow, HDD cable replaced, what next?

How much is my cMP worth?
