Upgrading 2011 iMac to SSD- What size is best?

hello,

have 2011 i7 2.5ghz 16 gb ram imac love , want keep running. don't need latest , greatest has dvd player (the 1 in house) , can play favorite old games europa universalis iii (iv works fine too!). anyway, has 1tb 72,000 rpm cause of increasingly slow application start times, otherwise i'm happy computer after 6 years of constant use family- proof of quality apple products. i've had pennies out of super drive, yeah, excellent machine.

years i've been considering upgrading ssd , advice size of ssd should obtain not cheap.

i've used around 470 gbs of 1tb hd. objective being speed computer, should go 250 gb or 500 gb @ $90 more? if go 250 gb, how go splitting hd? moving infrequently used memory hogs iphoto hard disk?

if plan on using on ongoing basis, i'd recommend 1 tb ssd. you'll want @ least 20-25% of drive empty.

either or 500 gb drive , move bunch of stuff off ssd, keeping no more 375 gb used.
