Mac OS/iTunes not recognizing iPad.


bare me, have little info go on...i'm troubleshooting father's problem, without having of equipment.

has ipad 4 latest ios update (10.3). macbook running 10.8 mountain lion. version of itunes unknown me.

when plugs ipad macbook, image capture opens up, ipad doesn't show under devices in finder nor in itunes.

image capture opening , showing photo library, assume there's no actual problem ipad (and there's no other issues going on it), , problem version of itunes no longer works current ios.

googling, couldn't find confirmation of theory, i'm turning here if has insight.
 

perhaps should update itunes before trying else. however, remember 10.8 not supported latest itunes 12.6.1. other upgrading system around 10.9.5 or higher, there not can let mac recognize ipad.

MBP extremely slow, HDD cable replaced, what next?

How much is my cMP worth?
