Am I just OLD - or is the thrill really gone?

i lucky enough grow personal computers.

first timex sinclair 1000. oddly enough, weighed less 15" 2013 rmbp i'm using right now.

anyway, great fun - , tricked other kids @ school hack school , change everyone's grades. programming in basic wasn't difficult

now, if holds up, may have bought last computer. have in protective case should knocked around or dropped - 2007 mbp replaced still working, it's dinged pretty well.

reason think i'll never wish buy computer because either i've reached age realize world has gone mad , bs , hype - or world has gone mad , bs , hype?

reason bought rmbp create retina graphics. seemed logical that, accomplish that, i'd need laptop retina screen. and, provide of retina goodness world wide web, i'd have create ridiculous amount of "variants" of same graphic in different resolutions different filenames. understand, apple has @2 , @3, while android has x1.5, x2, x3.

, seemed rather huge nuisance - creating of variants , using different naming conventions - headache, right?

no. turns out, on web must normalized, turns out save retina-sized jpeg @ 30% quality, makes same file-size regular (non-retina) jpeg @ 80%. minus 1 huge headache using fancy new rmbp, can see of images in beautiful perfect quality, destroy them reducing them 30% quality - and... yep, looks same original pristine image, on fancy rmbp. blow non-retina 80% image? blech...

why happens have no idea. concept started me on path end believe i've reached.

never need faster computer higher resolution. i've maxed out.

have 42" plasma panasonic 1080p hdtv in bedroom. don't want 60+" tv replace it. i've read 60" smallest screen on uhd can possibly appreciated. that's i've read, lie?

enjoy console gaming. bought ps4. not new pro - ps4. i'm whatever it's doing under hood incredible - see dramatic difference between ps2 , ps3 - night , day. ps3 vs. ps4 - ps3 still sits next tv, because it's better machine handling entertainment. never see myself buying uhd, ever.

again, when younger, ran same problem stereo vs. surround sound. dumb kid, bought surround sound system. hated it. don't think have mattered if have had professionally installed audiophile , expensive 5.1 speaker system world had offer - think it's 7.1 now? on 9 , 11 - knows? in case of "surround sound", ears highly sensitive, , "ambient noise" produced create "surround" sound literally hurt ears. can hear humming , can't stand it. headache it.

so, ever since, i've stuck stereo - 2 speakers , subwoofer. when last 1 burned out, paid more replace dedicated stereo deck.

, apologize if sounds i'm going off on tangent. i'm trying wrap head around -

sadly, think i've reached point. when first got iphone - wow! loved me angry birds - cool.

last phone hope ever buy iphone se. didn't want larger phones. hell, i'd still have iphone 4 if hadn't busted up. , "hey siri" turned off - not because i'm worried apple listening me 24/7, because can press button if wish repeatedly tell siri, "set alarm 8am" until takes, on 3rd repeat. because siri crap. know it's crap because hate texting , built-in non-siri voice-to-text program works charm. sure hell doesn't force me repeat same thing 3 times before "wakes up" , decides start working

here's gripe, condensed:

1.) computer more capable i'll ever need be. may have been case long time - it's become abundantly clear 2013 15" rmbp. thankfully still has dedicated function keys , no "magic/apple has run out of ideas since steve died" touch-bar.

2.) remarked earlier, high resolution displays helpful in 1 instance - it's easier eyes read text @ higher resolution. 30% jpeg situation proves, no one's brain able appreciate in photo. sure hell can't see @ 24, 30, or 60fps. it's bullsh-t.

3.) need go backing on dvds. , not use of apple's file systems - because hey, they're introduce ios system computers. guess fat or exfat it? i'll have research. dvds because hard drives fail and, given grew in computer age, of life i'd preserve old age digital. dvds seem best - bought archive quality ones reason.

getting old , grumpy? or has technology become running joke on of us?

appreciate , feedback. don't take things personally. once believed apple full of wonder. thought video games become more , more immersive , awesome. , wouldn't love latest , greatest tech?

me. no longer find "wonder" in new tech. it's "trickery" , believe people being conned.

lucky enough grow in awesomely wondrous age expected changing, better. , see these amazing things , appreciate them. didn't have told how cool - freakin' cool!

maybe i've been spoiled whole life - maybe i'm old - don't know. seems thrill gone. , that's major bummer - because wow, awesome. seriously.

has taken time read little sunday rant.

 

i have been bored upgrades al of years. reason upgrade phone computers @ home , work , ipad when have too.
