a questionable rumor has surfaced today suggesting apple unveil new iphone se next month, might more noise in iphone silly season.

rumor comes french-language blog igeneration, cited unnamed source claiming apple hold product event in late august introduce updated version of 4-inch smartphone.

mickaël bazoge, author of article, told macrumors received info "new source" unproven track record. expressed skepticism, added source "seems reliable."

timeline questionable given apple has never introduced new iphone model in august. beyond current iphone se , iphone 4s in march 2016 , october 2011 respectively, apple has officially debuted other iphone models @ events in june or september each year.

moreover, given current iphone se has iphone 6s tech specs, next model's tech specs closer iphone 7. , if happens in august, new iphone se powerful iphone 7 cheaper price tag, potentially cannibalizing apple's sales.

there have been few if rumors new iphone se. in november 2016, kgi securities analyst ming-chi kuo said unlikely apple release new iphone se in first half of year. claim proved accurate, kuo hasn't outlined new predictions since then.

How much is my cMP worth?
