Question about Google Chrome browser


do need use google's services able use chrome? don't have nor want accounts google. i'm looking potential alternative backup browser firefox. don't find firefox great these days. seems quite cpu hog , slows down. main browser safari doesn't seem slow things down it's ram hog. use chrome how it?
