intro
have had ipad pro 2 weeks , wanted give review of think , dislike. tldr: ipad pro second none if dont need traditional laptop.
design
ipad gorgeous polished chamfered edges gorgeous new display, every little detail comes make ipad joy gaze at. weight has not been large issue, 1 time noticed when holding in portrait mode 1 hand.
display
new display lovely, wont bother trying convince promotion awesome, you'll need see believe it. truetone lovely feature , feel eyes more relaxed when using ipad compared iphone , screen looks more natural.
speakers
4 stereo speakers on ipad pro sound incredible. never before has other device owned sounded awesome, @ full volume there isn't noticeable distortion , instruments , vocals sound crystal clear.
smart keyboard
smart keyboard a comfortable keyboard works , isn't thick , bulky other options lacks backlighting, irks me as costs. if plan on getting work done need accessory.
pencil
pencil interesting, have not used lot since main purpose class notes, have written though excellent, pencil comfortable , able write surprisingly small given size of tip. drawbacks have noticed pencil little slippery when writing , found myself having readjust hand quite often, although simple pencil grip can solve this. second issue battery life, in standby noticed pencil lost lot of battery not in use, luckily charges insanely fast i'd peg @ 6-8 minutes 0-100 charge.
performance
a10x in new ipad pro mind boggling powerful. apps open without delay, safari opens websites without hesitation , scrolling smooth time. ios 10 joke on ipad , ios 11 scratch surface of new chip capable of. sitting here waiting ios 12, bring out potential of new ipad.
battery life
promotion display , a10x monster ipad pro able hit 10+ hour sot. sitting here writing review battery 60% 6 hour 37min sot. think in past 2 weeks, lowest ended 30% battery, , 9 hour sot. keep in mind though summer workflow isn't intense of usage being safari, reddit, twitch , podcasts app. utilize auto brightness , in room light on, ipad goes 45% brightness, while battery life indeed awesome mileage vary. charging, have not bought usb c fast charge because me ipad getting me through day , 12 watt charger works fine overnight.
ios
love ios , not going detail explaining in depth, other work , not others, , know are. ios on 12.9 pro on level though far web browsing , productivity concerned, splitview don't feel cramped working in apps. ios still has random glitches , wish apple put effort fixing these issues. example can in app , using , randomly entire display become unresponsive until sleep wake ipad again. issue may minor nonetheless irritating if happens , in middle of scrolling though article or typing paper. while ios 11 may bringing great new features ipad, hope apple can put effort these random device "lockups" , "freezes". ipad, iphone, , apple watch have had issue 1 time or another.
conclusion
ipad pro 12.9 amazing device if workflow possible in ios, luckily mine , ipad has replaced 2012 macbook pro flying colors. ipad pro lighter , smaller, while providing lot more performance , improved battery life screen same size.
