In Lieu Of a Noisy iMac


i got imac 5k retina apple.com have been plagued fan noise when machine idle nothing plugged it. got replacement imac , had same issue. did further research , feedback online 5k imac noisy, has idle fan noise. looking alternative while can still exchange machine. noisy while idle dealbreaker me.

considering getting macpro. friend of mine owned graphic design company used old model have never been exposed these cylinder type models. how in comparison? quiet? also, sort of large monitor recommend pairing with? how these compared imac? understand imac releasing own pro in december not sure if want wait...

sort of information, feedback, advise appreciated. frustrated noise coming new imac. i'm okay spending more quieter machine. thanks.
 

my 5k imac dead silent unless i'm transcoding video or something. thing hear 90% of time external drives if they're spinning.

running on yours, have ask? like, if open activity monitor , sort processes cpu usage, what's happening there? because not sound normal me.

also, don't want buy 1 of current mac pros right now. they're outdated , expensive.
