iPad Pro 10.5" charging port broken / bad support


this bit of rant crappy apple service, , warning watch out issue.

noticed 10.5" wasn't charging night before going on trip town has apple store. got worse on course of trying troubleshoot hour, point push cable @ angle flick on , off being powered. what's weird nothing felt weird or loose, , had tested 3 cables , 3 chargers.

take in store (40 minute drive staying after driving 2 hours) , quick test , confirm it, tell me i'll have come in morning since didn't have appointment , need run tests. asked 2 different people before left, near closing time, if had enough swap in stock if came in morning. 1 guy told me have lots in system since had green checkmark (i found out later sale supply different), , (manager) told me have plenty swaps. left (40 minute drive back).

drive store (40 minutes again) , guy in morning same exact thing (nothing technical) plugging in , says "sure enough, it's broken." no technical tests, nothing! have literally done same thing night before. , didn't have 1 swap, pointless. said i'd have call applecare sent house because out of town. first of all, thought ridiculous had info there in ipad , yet couldn't initiate order replace it. systems fragmented @ apple? had it, means have go through troubleshooting applecare again, did not want since app design , have ios 11 beta installed complicate things tried write me off @ first having in store. knew issue @ least got him note account, helped, people don't realize have start on when calling.

call apple care , talk guy. said send me new ipad in mail, , i'd box return old one. had same thing happen 6s years ago after launch, figure makes sense. nope. first ipad issue out of 5 i've never had mess it. empty box in mail , nothing else. hell. call apple , guy says have pay $29 that, , guy must not have done right. go , forth him how ipad has been out of service such long time , should pay because keep jerking me around. talks manager. manager comes on after bit , takes on call. tells me apple doesn't swaps ipad, iphone, , 2 different employees told me wrong thing, i'm out of luck.

asks if want him call fedex schedule pickup, , yes. in morning, call double check , fedex says nobody has scheduled pickup yet (big surprise!) tell them schedule it. fedex never shows up. in evening, call fedex , can bring office downtown last pickup isn't until 7. there @ 6:52 , truck left @ 6:45.

feel whole thing has been top bottom cluster. apple support going downhill, , i'm never doing fedex again if can use ups. i've been starting integrate ipad pro everyday work, it's kind of pain without it. use more macbook pro @ home, , i'm starting use lot more @ work alongside imac, sucks i'll without long.
 

i'm not sure apple support "going downhill" as happens sometimes. have encountered several apple store employees in life didn't know going on far stock , things they're able , not able you. why stopped gambling on people out on floor , won't go in there troubleshooting unless have genius bar appointment. geniuses tend know little better far they're allowed take care of it, , ends replacement unit no questions asked.

went through lot of quality control issues iphone 4 , ipad 2, , able me out, in there lot 2 devices , got idiots too. make sure when survey asking how service brutally honest. prompt phone call manager, , take care of on phone you. not want situation ending unhappy.

recent case in point--i in apple store not long ago , asked 1 of guys if going make cases new ipad pro 10.5. goes, "yeah, take while. took while new ones released in march too." took him @ face value , didn't think check statement. there no case 2017 standard ipad either. didn't "take while"--it literally never happened. end getting new or lazy/uninformed. apple isn't immune this, make sure let them know whole story in survey.
