Just got my 2017 rMB


i received refurbished, 2017 rmb (base model, 8gb / 256gb) today.

far, love it! i'm still getting set on initial thoughts:

1) size. wow. i'm coming , still using 2014 rmbp, "only" 3.4 lbs. when bought 2014 rmbp coming cmbp , seemed light in comparison, guess our expectations portability higher , higher on time because primary use buying rmb wanting more portable since carry laptop work every day. :p thing compact!

2) keyboard: had read lot , nervous it. find can type accurately on it. no issues. thing still getting used "clickiness". it's louder previous keyboard, or @ least different sound. i'm still unsure whether i'll stuck keys people have talked about. 'clickiness' changes or 1 gets used to?

3) curious refurbished computers , batteries: out of sheer curiosity checked number of cycles on battery when first started computer. had 4. so, not new battery (which knew likely) consider appropriate amount, given savings + fact have regular apple warranty.

4) have both 2014 rmbp , 2017 rmb in front of me right , it's interesting going , forth between them. in basic usage (for me; office/business-type use) don't find rmb slow @ all, going 1 computer other (typing on rmbp right while setting software on rmb). it'll interesting see multi-task more on rmb.

use keyboard protector? (one of thin clear pieces? i've never used 1 on previous macs wondering if should on one?)

should disable throttling prevent overheating?
 

the retina 13" pros nice, though they're lighter previous non-retina pros, they're still not light. plus 13" awkward on plane unless sit in business class. 12" feels light, , works better travel when used is. main problem necessity carry whole bunch of dongles when traveling business in case, adds weight , take space, , can annoying.

2015 macbook bit slow. 2017 faster in feel. borne out benches. 2015 m3 gets around 4850 multi-core. 2017 m3 gets around 7000. that's 45% improvement in speed 2015 2017. mind you, 2015 macbook still faster core 2 duo macbook pro use secondary computer, , mbp more usable in high sierra.

2015 had terrible keyboard. 2017 has decent one. yes it's louder old style keyboards, feel reasonably good. pros have more travel though, they're nicer. have not yet had stuck key 2017, time tell.

can't disable throttling, cuz throttling prevents heating. i'm not sure mean. mean disable turbo boost? if that's mean, wouldn't recommend that, because if do, feel slow.

MBP extremely slow, HDD cable replaced, what next?

How much is my cMP worth?
