Help please - Refurb MBP vs New Air?


hi!

i'm new board , seem more knowledgeable myself different macbook options. wondering if give me advice.

replacing old 2010 mbp, finally.

given budget, i've narrowed down refurbished 13" macbook pro (2.7 ghz dual core intel i5 retina display) or brand new macbook air 13" upgrade 2.2 ghz option.

i'm getting conflicting advice variety of people @ work , @ apple

mbp better machine , value money, if model first released in 2015
others it's better brand new 2017 machine, since updates going forward newer machines. buying refurbished, computer "age out" sooner. since happened 2010 mbp cannot handle updates...this has me worried.

looking advice here. thank in advance!
 

definitely go pro. 2015 pro in many respects more modern 2017 air - , refurbs new (some people better!)

main issue air screen quality. owned 2013 air until few months ago, , absolutely loved computer. if buying now, couldn't bring myself air. also, it'll discontinued in next 12 months. have 2016 mac pro , difference in screen night , day.

MBP extremely slow, HDD cable replaced, what next?

How much is my cMP worth?
