hi guys
used following terminal commands stop macos automatically mounting external usb drive...
sudo pico /etc/fstab
uuid=number none hfs rw,noauto
source:
https://www.cnet.com/uk/how-to/how-to-prevent-a-volume-from-mounting-at-boot-in-os-x/#
(the usb drive attached cinema display, trying stop mounting when plug macbook pro display, because it's archive don't use often, , it's noisy when spins.)
however, when plug in drive, doesn't mount! obviously. bad, know.
how reverse terminal command?
many thanks
neal
sudo means superuser - gives permission write/edit protected files.
pico terminal/text editor
/etc/fstab file system table, permanent mount info kept.
uuid line supposed identify specific drive , give mount info.
careful changing file.
can fix removing uuid line added.
might safer if copy , paste file text (/etc/fstab) here , let give specific instructions.
