Region-specific ads in podcasts?

i listening recent episode of adam carolla podcast downloaded in overcast app. in middle of show there block of pre-recorded commercials.

live in north carolina.

, surprised hear ad local amusement park... carowinds.

got me thinking... podcast accessible across world. seems weird highly local business pay ads apply targeted region.

thought further... overcast know ip address , podcasts create multiple versions of mp3 files different ads serve people in different locations?

it's technically possible... i've never heard of it.

have further info on this?

i'm not privacy nut practice doesn't bother me. , it's possible carowinds have bought ad on nationwide and worldwide podcast though attract customers in couple states.

make me curious if different ads if downloaded podcast location.

it's adam carolla podcast... episode dated july 10... @ minute 52:47.

area download episode , see if same ad?

also... carowinds wouldn't buy ads... parent company, cedar fair, would.

here's funny part... cedar fair owns 13 theme parks across , canada.

, if think it... podcast listener in midwest better served ad cedar point or kings island, each in ohio.

again... seems weird one theme park in southeast gets national , worldwide exposure on 1 of biggest podcasts.

unless... there region-specific versions of podcast episodes.

edit:

false alarm.

listened episode directly website. there is carowinds ad in it... it's different ad. there 2 different mp3 files episode. weird.

looks carowinds (or cedar fair) did purchase ad on adam carolla show.

i'd still curious know if ad in download location... sure. :)
