i've heard recently, through google search.
i'd bought "2,1" model myself, 2x 2.66ghz quad core processors, radeon 5770. guessing 5770 flashed, , made me think when remebered there 3ghz mac pro 2,1 models. had repeatedly asked seller model, , serial/etc pointing 1,1.
googled anyway, apparently it's bit of 'scam' going on. else heard of this?
added: came build os 10.10.5 , seems few boot files have been modified, won't boot under else, black screen. might try ssh in , mess around.
it's been awhile since i've done 1,1 , 2,1 mac pros, recall, identical hardware, apple sold both models @ same time, 2,1 firmware correctly recognize 3.0 quad cpus, , run fans little differently. did have hack 2,1 install on 1,1.
it's possible 2.66 configurable option, don't think so, i've never seen one, i've heard same remember, there 3.0 8-core model of 2,1. 2,1 firmware installed show cpu correctly instead of showing 'unknown intel', or possible make buyer think it's newer is.
stock 1,1/2,1 won't boot after 10.7 run 10.10 seller had upgrade video card, , use custom bootloader. there should several threads on installing newer os on 1,1/2,1 mac pros.
