FYI: Magnetic Car Mounts and 8 plus


just sharing experience , document here online if others have similar issue.

i've been using car vent mounts magnet without issue iphone 7 plus past year. evutec aer series, karbon black afix

when new iphone 8 plus arrived couple of weeks ago, slipped evutec case on protect phone, bit tight went on ok. driving home work day , glanced @ phone , see error message "no sim installed" appearing, within 20min period phone connecting , disconnect network no sim installed happening on number of occasions.
had phone mounted vent magnetic holder during trip.

once got home network connection ok again, did full reboot on phone - popped out sim card tray , inspected - ok.

switched case on spigen clear 1 had few days, had no issues.

yesterday decided put metal mounting plate on spigen clear case try , ultilize magnet vent holder again.
, within few minutes same issue happened again, no sim installed error appeared.

took cover of right away , stopped using magnetic vent mount.


@ least in instance there correlation use of magnetic vent holder , iphone 8 plus. wanted share others.

know wireless charging , glass case on 8 plus, figured use @ least while afix mount option when not charging phone. appears magnetic field has impact on sim card/electronics.

anyway i'll go using regular vent mod such kenu 1 have now.

that pretty interesting. small magnet causes issue wireless charging coils inside phone? can't sure. have enjoyed using aer case iphone 7. saw evutec has new cases 8 , seem "spread" out metal plates inside case don't in way of wireless charging coils. wonder if magnets spread out inside of magnetic mount. hope so..i buy case.

MBP extremely slow, HDD cable replaced, what next?

How much is my cMP worth?
