small network of 8 macs, couple of printers, 2 mini servers. cable modem airport extreme (6th gen) 16 port switch. looking setup 2 remote file servers access remote workers (we presently have 2 mac minis running os x server attached graid storage need accessed). workers accessing server via user id , password. initial thought set them sftp servers. need public ips that? can ae handle multiple public ips? multiple vpn servers better here? there easier, more secure, elegant solution? asking point in right direction i'm sure have lot more knowledge in area ever will. we're not opposed having new router, etc.
with sftp on native port, you'll find many bots attempting connections unless move them off tcp/22. once that, can use different port each server, must sure use correct port. it's kludge, @ best.
i'd suggest vpn , might best router can natively. 1 option edgerouter x, costs $49 us. not more secure, can provide access internal network may want.
