Worrying app install; what to do now


i obtained app not labelled as. after opening it, safari windows kept on closing straight after opened it. removed app , fine, seems.

on safe side, ran clamxav found no threats. don't know whether trust or reinstall os fresh. have passwords on keychain on mac.

have read macos has xprotect apparently background process since nothing has popped assume ok.

when installing app, blocked since third party, went security preferences allow app open (like had done previous (maybe more trustworthy) third party apps); bypass whole gatekeeper security system? , when app opening after allowed it, took time while being 'verified'- assume mac searching viruses etc?
 

yes, opening app via process bypasses majority of gatekeeper.. xprotect still block known bad processes try execute though..

far “what now?” part of post.. recommend grabbing av scanner , scanning system clamav may not have found... malwarebytes mac..

if super duper worried it.. erase , reinstall.

MBP extremely slow, HDD cable replaced, what next?

How much is my cMP worth?
